Motor-driven appliance won't turn on (blender, mixer, vacuum)
Likely cause: A worn motor brush, a tripped thermal cut-out from overuse, or a faulty power switch.
How we fix it — We test the motor, switch and thermal cut-out and repair or replace the failed part.
Common issue
Appliance overheats or smells hot when running
Likely cause: A struggling motor, often from a blocked airway (vacuums) or overloaded use (blenders/mixers).
How we fix it — We clean blocked airways and test motor performance under load, advising if the motor itself needs replacing.
Common issue
Kettle or toaster not heating / tripping the socket
Likely cause: A failed heating element, or in kettles, limescale affecting the auto-shutoff sensor.
How we fix it — We test and replace the element, and descale kettles as needed.
Common issue
Vacuum cleaner losing suction
Likely cause: A full/clogged bag or filter, or a blocked hose — rarely the motor itself.
How we fix it — We clear blockages and check filters first, which resolves the large majority of suction complaints.
